Al-Ghamdi is a Professor at the Department of biology Faculty of Science, at King Abdulaziz University. She has earned an MS in plant ecology from King Abdulaziz Unversity and Ph.D. in plant ecology from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Malaysia.
